In traditional form, the ground of the saree is in a natural grey shade with either red or black plain border. In 1942, dyed yarn was introduced for the first time. Normal cotton yarn for this saree is of the count of 80 and 100, used both in the weft and the warp with an extra warp of 2/100 or 2/80 cotton yarn.
